Greenville, SC (Vocus) December 17, 2010

With many people seeking a priceless and exciting experience to give loved ones this holiday season rather than an item that will just end up in a box or on a shelf, the BI-LO Charity Classic Golf Tournament offers the perfect present for avid golfers and philanthropists alike: a $200 discount on first-time player spots for this year’s tournament, scheduled for June 5-6 in Greenville, S.C.

Player spots, valued at $850 each, will be available for only $650 for first-time players. Not only does a player spot ensure the recipient an opportunity for them and a guest to partake in the first-class Auction and Pairings Party on Sunday night and a fabulous Awards Banquet on Monday evening, but they will also be able to enjoy one of the most prestigious courses in Upstate South Carolina and Western North Carolina. Even better, the recipient of a BI-LO Charity Classic player spot will also be part of raising money for organizations across Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee that support children, education and hunger relief.

“It’s always so difficult to find the perfect gift for those who matter most to you,” said BI-LO Charities Executive Director Carol Browning. “A player spot for this year’s BI-LO Charity Classic is a one-of-a-kind experience that the recipient will always remember, and the best part is that this gift ends up benefiting our community.”

The Charity Classic has been listed as the nation’s largest one-day charity golf tournament, taking place at a dozen locations in Upstate South Carolina and Western North Carolina, including 11 immaculate golf courses and the BMW Performance Center. So regardless of whether you would prefer to drive a car around the track or drive a golf ball off the tee, there is plenty of excitement guaranteed. Golf courses for the tournament include: Champion Hills, Chanticleer at Greenville Country Club, Cliffs of Glassy, Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards, Cliffs of Valley, Kenmure Country Club, Musgrove Mill, Riverside at Greenville Country Club, The Reserve at Lake Keowee and Thornblade Club. Registration for courses is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

About the BI-LO Charity Classic
The BI-LO Charity Classic began in 1983 as a fundraiser for Meals on Wheels of Greenville. During the past 27 years the tournament has raised more than $53 million to support hundreds of charities throughout BI-LO’s four-state operating area of South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia. Funds from the Charity Classic go toward supporting organizations that focus on BI-LO Charities’ key initiatives, including education, children’s needs and hunger relief.
